Traditional Balinese batik techniques with a contemporary approach. Learn wax-resist dyeing and take home a wearable work of art.
Batik is wax. It's resist. It's the space between intention and accident. Balinese batik has centuries of tradition — intricate patterns, sacred motifs, learned through repetition. In this workshop, you learn the fundamentals: how to apply wax, how it resists dye, how to layer color, and how to crack for texture. The results are unpredictable. That's the point. You walk out with a scarf, sarong, or cloth unique to your hand.
Hot wax, brush, and cloth. Create resist patterns — geometric, organic, intuitive.
Submerge in indigo and natural dye baths. Watch the cloth transform.
Remove wax. Crack it for spider-web texture. Dye again for depth.
